The Challenge

To produce a suite of short promo films to help market Royal Caribbean’s new ‘space age’ cruise ship Quantum of the Seas.

S2N Solution

Use a documentary style to follow three diverse families taking their first trip aboard the new ship. The honest and realistic feel let the audience see the ship’s hi-tech attractions as experienced by the families.

The Thinking

Removing a presenter or voice-over and putting the customer at the heart of the film, would feel more like a personal experience than a scripted marketing ‘film’. This personal testimony combined with the ship’s visual ‘wow’ put the audience at the heart of the Royal Caribbean experience.

Making It Happen

Working closely with Royal Caribbean’s Marketing team, a 3 day filming schedule saw two camera teams work simultaneously to maximise coverage during the short voyage.

The ship was jam packed with news crews, PR teams and other families, making filming very difficult. However close liaison with the client and much ‘thinking on the hoof’ captured the families’ stories and the ship’s amazing facilities.


A fast turnaround edit created a 3 minute Royal Families film together with 5 shorter versions each featuring a specific aspect of the ship. Royal Caribbean incorporated the films into their online marketing strategy.
